The 2-day desert tour in Marrakech will start with Pick up from your Marrakech hotel/riad at 7:00 a.m. in order to have enough time to make as many stops along the way as possible and depart to the High Atlas mountains via Tizi N’Tichka pass with stops for impressive panoramic views and taking photos of the authentic Berber small villages that disguise themselves in the landscapes.
Our 2-day private journey from Marrakech to Merzouga continues to see the Film Studios and Taourirt Kasbah from the outside in Ouarzazate, as well as making other quick photo stops at various locations where the scenery is beautiful. We’ll stop for lunch in Tinejdad or Touroug before continuing on to the Merzouga desert and the stunning dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Before dinner, you’ll have a camel trek from here to our Berber camp, where you’ll be able to watch the sunset at the top of a dune, try sandboarding if that’s an activity you’re interested in, take photos, and enjoy the sights. We continue to the camp, where you will be greeted with a cup of mint tea, served a great dinner, listen to traditional Berber drumming music, and sleep in a tent beneath a starry sky.
After viewing the sunrise, you’ll have breakfast and shower at camp before heading back to Marrakech through the arid pre-desertic area, where you’ll witness acacia trees distinctive of this landscape.
We’ll stop along the way on the trip to the Draa Valley to observe the wonderful views of the river that give the valley its name. It is Morocco’s longest river. Our journey continues as we cross the Anti-Atlas Mountains towards Ouarzazate.
We’ll have some free time in the city for lunch before continuing our journey to Marrakech, where we’ll arrive in the late afternoon or evening. Transfer to your hotel, and your 2 days itinerary from Marrakech to Merzouga concludes.
Your 2-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga will begin with your driver from Sahara Camel Trips picking you up early in the morning at your hotel or riad in Marrakech and heading to the High Atlas mountains, passing through Tizi N’Tichka with stops for breathtaking views and photographing the Berber villages and their beautiful landscape.
Since 1986, the fortified settlement has been designated as a Unesco World Heritage Site, and numerous notable films have been shot there, including Game of Thrones, Gladiator, The Jewel of the Nile, The Mummy, etc.
Our journey continues to Ouarzazate, also known as “the gate of the desert,” which means “noiseless” in Berber. We’ll visit the Taourirt Kasbah, one of Morocco’s most beautiful ksars. We’ll stop for lunch at Rose Valley after passing through the large Skoura palm forest, which is a magnificent place to contemplate endless palms and various kasbahs built in the surrounding area. We’ll pass via the Dades and Todra valleys, Tinejdad, and Touroug.
And then we continue our journey to the desert to reach the stunning dunes, where we will experience camel trekking through the golden dunes with a stop to watch the incredible sunset over the dunes, try sandboarding in the sand if you are interested, and enjoy the beautiful landscapes… until the sun goes down.
Then proceed to Berber Camp Merzouga, where you will be met with a glass of mint tea and will be able to rest until dinner time, after which there will be some traditional Berber drumming music around the fire, observe a beautiful starry sky, and then sleep in a nomadic tented camp.
As you are already in the desert, it is worth waking up early in the morning to witness the most amazing sunrise you have ever seen at the top of a dune near the camp.
Following these delightful moments, you will have a delicious breakfast and shower at the camp before riding your camels or being transferred by our 4WD back to the initial meeting point, where you will meet your driver.
