This 2-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes will begin with pick-up from your hotel at 7:00 a.m. in order to have enough time to make as many stops along the way as possible and depart to the High Atlas mountains via Tizi N’Tichka pass, with stops for impressive panoramic views and taking photos of the authentic Berber small villages that disguise themselves in the landscapes.
Then we’ll head south to the ksar (fortified village) of Ait Ben Haddou, where we’ll stop for pictures or a short visit if you’re visiting during the summer months and the day is long enough. The famed Kasbah (a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986) used to shoot famous films including Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, Sahara with Penélope Cruz, and others.

We’ll stop for lunch in Tinejdad or Touroug before continuing on to the Merzouga desert and the stunning dunes of Erg Chebbi. Before dinner, you’ll embark on a camel trip to our Berber camp, where you’ll get the opportunity to enjoy the sunset from the top of a dune.
If sandboarding is your thing, go for it, snap photos, and enjoy the scenery. We continue to the camp, where you will be greeted with a cup of mint tea, served a great dinner, listen to traditional Berber drumming music, and sleep in a tent beneath a starry sky.
After seeing the sunrise over the dune near the camp on the second day, you’ll enjoy a nice breakfast and shower at the camp before riding the camels back to where you started, or by 4WD if you want.
From here, we’ll head to Fes via the Ziz Valley, Morocco’s second-longest river, and traverse the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you’ll enjoy spectacular views. In the afternoon, you’ll have free time to eat at a restaurant.
We’ll drive to Fes and stop at the Cedar Forest in Azrou to visit the wild monkeys, then take a short walk in the forest to take pictures. We’ll stop in Ifrane, Morocco’s small Switzerland, before arriving in Fes in the late afternoon to drop you off at your hotel and conclude our private Marrakech to Fes 2-day tour.
Your excellent Marrakech to Fes 2-day desert tour will begin with a pick-up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech by your driver from Sahara Camel Trips early in the morning and departure to the High Atlas highlands.
Passing through Tizi N’Tichka port, stopping for stunning panoramic views and photographing Berber communities and the surrounding scenery. Then we will continue south to Ait ben Haddou (walled town), which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986. Our journey continues to Ouarzazate, also known as “the gate of the desert,” which means “noiseless” in Berber. We’ll visit the Taourirt Kasbah, one of Morocco’s most beautiful ksars.
Stop for lunch at Rose Valley after passing through the large Skoura palm forest, which is a magnificent place to contemplate endless palms and various kasbahs built in the surrounding area. We’ll pass via the Dades and Todra valleys, Tinejdad, and Touroug.
Then we’ll continue on to the desert to the stunning dunes of Merzouga, where we’ll experience camel trekking through the golden Erg Chebbi desert with a break to watch an amazing sunset over the dunes. You can either do the sandboarding or enjoy the beautiful landscapes.
Continue to Berber Camp Merzouga, where you will be greeted with a glass of mint tea, and relax until dinner time, after which there will be some traditional Berber drumming music around the fire, you will appreciate the beautiful starry sky, and you will sleep in a nomadic tent camp.
After viewing the sunrise over the dune close to the camp on the second day, you will enjoy an amazing breakfast and take a shower at the camp. After that, you will ride the camels back to the location where the excursion began, unless you prefer to be transferred in a 4WD vehicle instead.
Keep going in the direction of Fes via the Ziz Valley, which is home to the second-longest river in all of Morocco; we’ll cross the Middle Atlas Mountains, from which you’ll be able to take in breathtaking panoramas; you’ll have some free time to eat lunch at a restaurant; then, as we continue our journey toward Fes in the afternoon, we’ll make a stop at the Cedar forest in Azrou, where we’ll see wild monkeys and
