Tangier is one of the most beautiful bays in the region, situated between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. With many listed sites and one of the best-preserved medinas in the world, it’s a beautifully sunny, multicultural, and lifestyle destination.
Tangier has traditionally been a key location. It is one of North Africa’s oldest cities. It now has a population of 974,000 people after 2500 years.
Tangier is a major seaside resort with a wide variety of hotel and tourist facilities, as well as a medina that attracts many people.
Tangier Medina, or old town, is an ideal site to begin or end your journey. The old and modern worlds collide there, making a visit and time spent in Tangier’s Medina a memorable experience.
We recommend beginning your journey at the Place du 9 Avril 1947 (also known as the Souk Barra or the Grand Socco). It is a big shopping mall and the only entrance to the medina. You can readily sense the essence of Morocco with a central fountain and antique buildings (the Cinémathéque de Tanger, the Anglican St. Andrew’s Church, Mendoubia, or Sidi Bouabid mosque).
Then proceed to the Fez gate, which leads into the old town. On the right, there is a traditional Moroccan market where you can buy various species or other mementos.
The Petit Socco could be the next stop. There are historic and well-known cafés where you can sip coffee. After a minute of rest, you can resume your journey to the Jewish cemetery. It is near Bab Mirican (one of the Medina’s walls).
Morocco’s must-see sites and monuments include Beni Idderm, Oued Abhardan, Jnan Kabtan, Dar Baroud, and the Kasbah. Don’t forget to snap pictures because the architecture is unique and stunning.
Other must-see attractions in Morocco include the Kasbah Museum of Mediterranean Cultures, the Nahon synagogue, the American Legation, and Ibn Battouta’s mausoleum.
